Wedding Reception Venues in Tofino & Ucluelet with spectacular West Coast Views

I am so excited to be able to share with you the news that both Tofino and Ucluelet will have new venues that you can sit down and have a beautiful Wedding Reception and enjoy our Million Dollar View. These are great additions to the venues already available to us, especially to the weddings of 60 to 200 guests. Since being a Wedding Planner I have had many young couples wanting to bring their family and friends to both of our little towns to share with them, their LOVE of the Area, the Natural Beauty, the Jaw-Dropping Backdrops and of course our renowned Sunsets. And most Weddings are in the summer when some of the venues with views are busy with summer season and do not offer their space for a wedding reception. In the last few years I have seen many couples decide to take their weddings away from the area due to the fact that their reception would have to be in a space with little or no windows and that is not how they foresee sharing their love of our beaches and forests with their guests.

I will be checking out the Tofino space this week, even though it is still in the building faze and will follow up with a blog update.

Ucluelet is pretty close to having their new West Coast Aquarium open, this is going to be an amazing space with touch tanks and all tanks will be home to sea-life from our local waters. The building is an architectural masterpiece that overlooks the Ucluelet Inlet, yes it has windows so it has a view and it is going to be available for Wedding Receptions of about 60-70 guests. I did tour it a couple of months back and am looking forward to showcasing a wedding there soon. The tanks are going be hidden under circular tables while the reception is taking place, lighting will be romantic and the view breathtaking.

As many of you know, I have been planning weddings now for 9 years, starting of when I was the Wedding Coordinator @ the beautiful Long Beach lodge Resort on Cox Bay in Tofino and then when I started my own business in 2006. Throughout the years I have seen an increase with couples choosing either Tofino or Ucluelet as the place for their destination Wedding, presently there are between 4-500 ceremonies a year. And as these celebrations grow the demand for more wedding services also increases, we now have 5 commissioners performing sometimes 2-3 weddings a day depending on the season as well as a few church officials. We also have many great local photographers with varied styles of “How to tell your Wedding Story”, not so long ago there were perhaps two choices.

For a few of the services, the last couple of years have been challenging and this had to do with the turn on the economy, there was not a drastic reduction in couples getting married but those who were, chose to have a hands on wedding with friends & family helping in whatever capacities they could such as the Bride’s Hair or the Wedding Cake being made by a friend or someone on the guest list taking the pictures. For some young couples the need for a big wedding was not as important as saving for their first home so small Elopements increased with just about every local Resort having an Elopement Package available.

I have to say that I am starting to see the tide turning, in that couples are starting to look ahead again and plan their wedding for down the road in 2013. This is great for the local economy and for Canada in general, your dollars go farther when used at home and especially when you can be guaranteed that you will have local businesses that will make sure that your wedding vision becomes a reality within your budget. The process of getting married in British Columbia is simple compared to other countries and our beaches here on the West Coast make the perfect backdrop for any wedding ceremony.

So for any of you wishing to say “I Do” whether it is just the two of you or with friends and family be it this year or next, I would suggest that your Date and Venue should be at the top of your To Do list as the bookings are definitely coming in. And this is especially important if you have seen the work or have had a recommendation for a local Wedding Service as they will be in demand as well.

Beach Wedding in Ucluelet

For those of you who are looking for a Destination Beach Wedding, watch this video taken by Szymon Szymczakowski on Big Beach in Ucluelet, BC.

Yes Ucluelet does have some amazing beaches and more and more couples are saying I DO here with their family and friends. Szymon also does amazing Wedding Photography.

In the last few years Ucluelet has been identified as a small town with some new great restaurants and a variety of accommodations that work with all budgets. The beaches are a little more rugged but make for a great backdrop for those storytelling pictures. I find out from my couples if they would like some pics with the sandy expanses of beach that we are know for on the West Coast, if so we take a short 15minute drive to the Wickaninnish Beach in the Pacific Rim National Park.

The Meaning of Love!

As I keep up with my daily social networking, I travel around the world by google and come across some sayings/quotes that make me smile.These in turn confirm that I have the best Job in the world. You might argue that, as you might really love your job. But as they say ” for every woman there is the perfect man and visa versa”, I think that their is the perfect job for each of us. Some of us might have a few jobs that we feel were designed with us in mind. I feel that through the years I have built computers, been a cook and am a mother with 3 lovely girls, I can now add Wedding Planner to my accomplishments, I have to admit that helping Brides, lots of Brides make their Wedding Dream come true is like getting married 40-50 times a year. I watch as the day itself unfolds with nerves and tears and love and tenderness. My most favourite moment as I hold my breath is when the Groom sees his Bride for the first time all dressed up and beautiful walking towards him–this moment is priceless and I try very hard to ensure that the photographer is on hand to tell that story on film. I listen as the vows are being repeated and quietly in my heart I say them over again to Dan(my husband) and so you might agree that Love does make the world go round and round and round!

One of the first things I recommend to my new clients is to let their guests know about their wedding well in advance so that they can book time of work and budget for the expense of getting to Tofino or Ucluelet. A trend that started a few years ago was sending guests some kind of “Save the Date” token that simply say the date of the wedding and this can be sent as far in advance as you want..

I have seen a selection of different ideas on this, Dan and I made a magnet with a sunset pic of the beach we planned to get married on with the wedding date. Easy to make, cheap and not too expensive to mail abroad and could also be placed on the fridge as a friendly reminder. A close friend of mine sent “A Message in a Bottle with sand and shells”, you can tie it into whatever your theme is.
